Requirements for being a successful Key Account Manager
Several years experience in key account management is normally a prerequisite for such a role. This role thus requires organisational skills to manage accounts efficiently and prioritise tasks, as well as those communication and soft skills necessary to build customer relationships externally and maintain the existing client base. A strong sales background is also beneficial, as is the willingness to succeed, a proactive nature and a generally amicable personality, in order to work between departments and coordinate departmental strategy internally to increase business.
